WHAT IS PEER REVIEW?
Peer review is an informal process conducted by members of the Alaska Dental Society in which a problem or dispute can be resolved through either mediation or a Peer Review Committee Review.
Peer Review is not a court of law, an adversarial proceeding, nor is it a punitive action hearing.
When the Alaska Dental Society receives a completed Request for Peer Review, the local peer review committee is notified and a member of the local committee contacts the patient. Unless directed otherwise, mediation will be scheduled. If mediation is unsuccessful, full panel arbitration will be conducted. This process may include an examination of the patient and separate interviews with the patient and the dentist who provided the treatment in question.
For additional information or to request a peer review request form call the Alaska Dental Society admin office in Anchorage at 907-563-3003 or go to "Contact Us" and request an application. Be sure to include either a mailing address or a current e-mail address at which you can receive, download and print pdf documents.
